Billing and credits
Usage is paid from a balance in US dollars. Every new account starts with a $100 credit.
Pricing
Your account has one balance of credits in US dollars, usable across p99lab APIs (Audrey speech-to-text today; more models coming). Each model has its own rates, and each request's cost is taken from your balance.

Usage is charged by the length of the audio you send. Each file request is billed for at least 5 seconds and each stream for at least 15 seconds. Volume pricing is available. The console shows your balance.
Sign-up credit
Every new account starts with $100 of credits, usable across p99lab APIs. They do not expire, and they cover usage until you choose a plan.
Plans
A plan adds credits every month, usable across p99lab APIs (Audrey speech-to-text today; more models coming). Plans are billed monthly in USD.

Choose a plan in the console under Billing. Payment is handled by Stripe.
How credit is used
- Plan credit is added when each monthly invoice is paid.
- Plan credit does not roll over: at renewal, what is left of last month's plan credit is replaced by the new month's credit.
- Usage draws plan credit first, then the sign-up credit.
The console's Billing page shows your balance, what it is made of, and every credit and charge. Days in the console follow Pacific time.
Changing or cancelling a plan
Manage billing in the console opens the billing portal, where you can change plan, update your card, see invoices and cancel.
- Upgrading during a month adds the difference between the two plans' monthly credit, never more than the share of the new plan you were charged for.
- Downgrading or cancelling takes effect at the end of the billing period. When a plan ends, its unused plan credit is removed. The sign-up credit stays.
When the balance runs out
A file request is answered with HTTP 402 and a link to the billing page, before any audio is
processed. A stream opened at a zero balance is refused with an error carrying "code": 402.
A stream that runs out while open finishes the turn in progress, then ends with the same error instead of
done. See errors and limits.
If a renewal payment fails, paid usage continues for 3 days. After that, requests get 402 until the
invoice is paid.
